Getting Started with Digitisation
The Global Pollen Project enables the digitisation of existing collections
The Global Pollen Project aims to provide a home for digital pollen reference collections. We provide tools for easy digitisation of reference collection slides. These have the following advantages:
- Taxonomy: we provide a taxonomic backbone to verify taxonomic information, and provide quick data entry,
- Focus Images: images can be stacked and presented as focusable images, just like using a microscope.
- Integration: your slides will appear alongside slides from other collections, and user uploaded grains.
How Does It Work?
You can take images with or without a fixed camera. We do not currently require any information on exine characteristics or other morphological traits. All we require from you are images and taxonomic information. We verify all uploads against our taxonomic backbone, ensuring the most up-to-date species names are used.
Getting Started
All we need from you is a little information about your organisation and collections. We'll review your request as soon as possible and grant digitisation rights to your account.
You must create an account and log in before requesting access to digitisation.
